This discussion thread will provide information about the work that Health Nest Uganda (http://www.healthnestuganda.org) is doing to support older persons in Entebbe Uganda.
What might evidence look like? Eunice shared her ideas:
- Increased access to health and social services for all ages
- Community ownership and sustainability of livelihood projects leading to eradication of poverty and creation of employment for both the youth and older persons
- Role modelling the replication and expansion of inter generational projects for livelihood and social protection for the youth and older persons.
- Advocacy and linkages to other stake holders to increase support and consideration of the youth projects, older persons activities.
- Representation of both the youth and older persons in the leadership and issues concerning their communities.
- Safety and security in communities that will reduce elder abuse.
- Innovation and co-creation of ideas and income generating activities that are inter generational. this in the long run will reduce the dependency ratio of the older persons on the youth.
- Inclusion of both young and old in policy making and implementation so as issues arising in their communities
